Mounting Principles

Ready-to-mount-into-metal capacity of sensors.
Ready-to-mount capacity is always defined in sensor datasheet. In respect to ready-to-mount capacity, sensors are manufactured in two versions - flush-mounted and non-flush mounted sensors. Flush-mounted sensors include all-metal sensors, while non-flush mounted sensors include sensors with plastic housing or advance coil extruding from metal housing. If the following conditions cannot be met, the manufacturer should be consulted. With respect to some exceptions having plastic housing and in spite of that being flush-mounted type, we can proceed in mounting as follows.

x

Installation of flush-mounted inductive sensors.
They can be flush to the metal up to the level of active surface. The distance between adjacent sensors (side-by-side) must be minimum of 2xd. The distance of the metal on the opposite side is minimum of 3xSn.

x

Installation of non-flush mounted sensors.
They can be flush to the metal up to the end of the metal part of the sensor. The advance coil in plastic housing must be outside the metal. The distance between adjacent sensors (side-by-side) must be minimum of 3xd. The distance of the metal on the opposite side is minimum of 3xSn.

x

Installation of opposing sensors.
The distance between the active surfaces is minimum of 3xSn.
